About Us
Ridgewood Crew introduces Ridgewood, NJ high school-aged youth to the traditions, athleticism, sportsmanship, techniques and camaraderie of the sport of rowing. Founded in 2004, the team rows on the Passaic River in northern NJ and competes in the sport’s premier regattas held throughout the Northeast.
In 2009, Ridgewood Crew continued to make a name for itself in the world of competitive high school rowing. The team grew to a roster of 70, the largest in club history. The Ridgewood Crew fleet was expanded, with the addition of two 8-oared shells, and the first season of sweep rowing.
On the river, crews posted the best results across the board in team history. Highlights included: The women's JV double earned the team's first SRAA Nationals Gold Medal, a silver at the prestigious Stotesbury Cup Regatta and another gold at Philadelphia City Championships. The men's varsity double won silver at Philadelphia City Championships, a bronze at SRAA Nationals and the pair was invited to compete in USRowing's National Youth Championships. Rower Jake Sluis was invited to compete for a seat on the USRowing Men's Junior National Team that will represent the U.S. at the FISA World Championships held in France this summer. And, the team's overall performance continued to attract unprecedented interest from top rowing colleges and universities including: Bucknell, Boston University, Drexel, Duke, Georgetown, George Mason, Harvard, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Syracuse, Williams and others.
