2007-2008 Winter Training Options It is strongly recommended that rowers who are not participating in a winter sport train (cardio, strength). The following are five (5) options, however, any training that works in the rower’s schedule is great. Please feel free to contact the coaches via email with any questions about training options or routines.

Option 1: Sarah Kornblum, Head Coach, will run a swim/weight training program at the YWCA, Ridgewood, which will include two swim sessions and one weight training session. We anticipate Wed evening (7:30 – 8:30 PM) and Sunday (12 – 1 PM) swim sessions and one evening (TBD) weight training class. There is a $25 YWCA fee for either program. The 2-day swim will cost $120 for 8 weeks, and the 2-day swim plus 1-day weight training will cost $160 for the 8 weeks.

Option 2: YMCA, Ridgewood, offers a 3-month “Triangle”membership for $95. This program offers use of the strength training facility (which has two Concept ergs), scheduled teen lap swims, and open gym time (can be used for basketball, etc). Please see brochure for additional details.

Option 3: F.I.T. at RHS – Dates/cost have yet to be set, however, the program runs an 8-session “mini” camp in December/early January at a cost of approximately $75. The full program is 12-session program and costs approximately $125. Both programs are held 2 days a week (Tues/Thurs). An announcement will be made at RHS after Thanksgiving break, and flyers will be posted in the hallways. Once RC has confirmed program details, we will email all.

Option 4: Boris Roque Alvarez, RC Coach, will run a erg training program at Nereid. There will be two (2) one-hour sessions (4 – 5 PM and 5 – 6 PM ) on Mon., Wed., and Fri. and will run from 12/3/07 – 2/1/08 (accounts for school vacations). This program will take 8 – 10 rowers for each session and will be on a first come, first-served basis. Cost of this program is $300. Please contact Boris/Neried directly via email: broqueal@yahoo.com

Option 5: Individual/Group Erg Workouts – these workouts can be done on an individual basis. Our Erg Workouts section will be updated shortly.
