Sarah Kornblum, Head Coach
Sarah joined Ridgewood Crew's coaching staff in 2007 and recently accepted the Head Coach Role.  Sarah is a graduate of Rutgers University, a certified personal trainer, and she holds a Master's degree in elementary education. While at Rutgers, Sarah was introduced to crew and quickly became absorbed in the sport. During her four-year Division I rowing career at Rutgers, she had the privilege of competing all four years in the Big East Championships and Eastern Sprints. Email Sarah at sarahkornblum@yahoo.com.

 
 
 

 
 
 
Boris Roque Alvarez
Boris joined the Ridgewood Crew coaching staff in 2008.  A native of Cienfuegos, Cuba, Boris has been involved with the sport of rowing since 1976.  While in Cuba, he rowed for eight years for the Team of Cienfuegos in provincial and national competitions, posting top finishes at many races. At the age of 18, Boris had to choose between a place on the National Team of Cuba to compete at the World Junior Rowing Championships, and a scholarship to study  at the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine. He chose to pursue the degree, and after completing his studies in Kiev, Boris returned to Cuba to coach a group of rowers, several of whom were named to the National Team of Cuba.  In 1995, Boris moved to Cyprus, where he was instrumental in helping to establish the sport of rowing in that country.  He then moved to the U.S. in 2006.  Today, Boris holds a Teaching Certificate and is seeking full-time employment in the field of education. Rachel Blessing
Rachel is a graduate student at the Rutgers Graduate School of Education where she is currently working toward a career as a high school Social Studies teacher.  Rachel was first introduced to rowing in high school, but wasn't able to get seriously involved in the sport until college.  As an undergrad, she rowed for Rutgers and competed in the Big East and Eastern Sprints Championships.  Since completing her undergrad career, Rachel hasinstructed boating at a local summer camp.  She looks forward to coaching crew with Ridgewood Crew. Email Rachel at blessidrache@gmail.com


 

Jackie Nolan
Jackie Nolan joined Ridgewood Crew's Coaching Staff in 2007. A member of Marist College’s Class of 2006, Jackie works in Manhattan for HighWater Group Public Relations. Never having rowed in High School, Jackie first discovered crew at Marist, where she was a four-year member of the Women’s Crew Team. While on the team, she had the privilege of being a part of the Varsity boats which competed to win the gold medal at New York State Championships in 2005, MAAC Conference Championships 2004 & 2006, 4th in the Collegiate Eight event at the 2005 Head of the Charles and 3rd at the 2005 Head of the Schuylkill.  Email Jackie at Jaclyn.enolan@gmail.com.


Tyler Spatz
Tyler Spatz is a recent alumnus of Ridgewood Crew.  He joined the team in 2004 as a novice and last season competed in the program's varsity quad.  Tyler has racing experience at many of the major regattas including Mercer Lake Sprints, Philadelphia City Championships and others.  He currently attends Ramapo College, where he is pursuing a degree in Teaching. Board of Directors
Ridgewood Crew is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of parents and interested members of the community. Directors are elected and meet regularly to promote the club’s goals and objectives.
